Text
This series was developed after a 6- week- long stay for the project "Women from Bangladesh" in the year 2007. I had done interviews with women and girls from different social backgrounds and had asked them for their wishes, fears, dreams and aspirations about their lives. The series consists of portraits of young girls and women who allowed me to take their photos. The girls I got to know in the workshops of Shabalamby near Netrokona. They come from very poor families, work there and get trainings in textile crafts. By this they are able to support their families and don´t have out of financial reasons to be married off at a very young age. Some of the women I met on the streets of Dhaka, who asked me to take a photo of them. Also I got to know some women through my social connections who allowed me to take their photo.
